Tedx Mile High
June 8th, 2010
TED now has a chapter brewing in The MileHigh City. On May 27th in a downtown loft, a diverse group of people, from teachers and techies, VCs and CFOs, to ECO and Probonos gathered over fancy fingerfoods, beer and wine to discuss the future of TEDx.
After a chance to mingle with the group, we took pause as Jeremy Duhon and Angela
Yost kicked off the Mile High TEDx. Jeremy gave a brief but inspirational speech about TED’s influence in his life and paid particular homage to inspiring others. He encouraged us to think about what we bring to TED and consider how “whatever it was” could inspire others. He and Angela seemed to be promoting more than just bumping of iPhones. They seem poised to dig into the technophile, socialite, artist, and commoner alike to elicit nuggets that inspire all…..ala TED. Very refreshing to know, and experience.
After the speech there were calls to action to solicit and track ideas and contributions of possible venues, speakers, sponsors, and who else should be involved. Amidst the nice food, drink and ambiance, who’s balking at some paperwork… besides this is TED right?
The formalities closed with this little ditty from Derek Silvers : Leadership Lessons From A Dancing Guy . This ditty seemed to sum up the philosophy of our hosts, and mark the beginning of another dance started by a couple of lone nuts, with a bunch of people with the guts to join in.
